I first met Bryan around 1970 when a group of my friends who had formed a band needed to find a new bass player. I was struck by his skill, speed and the creative use of his instrument; unlike any bass player I'd seen before. He soon became a regular part of our group and we spent a good part of our spare time together, when the band practiced and socializing.
After high school, some went to post secondary, some found full-time employment and our original group was now going their individual ways.
Years later, thanks to Facebook, we reconnected and I learned he was living in Strathroy. My mother also lived in Strathroy and since I was there often to see her, I made it a point to also get in touch with Bryan when I was there. That was from 2010 to 2015 and I was able to visit and take him for a grocery run, or his favourite butcher shop during those years. Unfortunately my mother had to leave Strathroy and move to a continuing care home in early 2016 and I no longer had the opportunity to make regular visits to Strathroy.
